A Sanctuary of Connection and Healing in the Mayan Jungle

About Pepem Holistic Retreats

Pepem means “butterfly” in the Mayan language—a symbol of transformation, rebirth, and the evolution of the soul. This space was born from a personal journey of deep healing, and today it supports others in their own metamorphosis, just as the caterpillar transforms into a butterfly.

A Sanctuary Within the Dos Ojos Park

Located in the heart of Dos Ojos Park, just 15 minutes from Tulum, Pepem is surrounded by virgin jungle, medicinal trees, native fruits, and sacred cenotes.

Across two hectares of living nature, the space was designed for conscious retreats, integrating sustainable architecture, solar energy, and 13 eco-cabins that honor the natural flow of the land.

Founders

Pepem Holistic Retreat was born from the shared dream of its founders, Virginia and Juan Carlos, who united their paths with a clear vision: to create a sanctuary for deep healing, spiritual reconnection, and harmony with nature.

They envisioned Pepem as a legacy—a living example that it is possible to build in the jungle without harming it, honoring Mayan wisdom, and offering every visitor a space to return to themselves.

Virginia, spiritual channel and therapist, guides cacao ceremonies, temazcales, medicine chants, and rituals of soul transformation.

Juan Carlos, architect and visionary, designed every corner of Pepem respecting the natural environment, protecting the flora and fauna, and using local materials. Elevated cabins, palm-thatched roofs, and pathways integrated into the landscape form part of this conscious architecture that allows nature to continue flowing freely.
